Chair

Frank A. Wilson:

Frank is the President of The Employment Solution, T.E.S. Contract Services Inc. He has been involved with Reena Foundation for 12 years, and been director since 1998.  Frank was the Senior Vice President of B’Nai Brith Canada and President of JNF Toronto for 3 years. He has been on the Presidents Counsel of Easter Seals and received the Queen's Medal, as well as many others, from the Government of Canada. Frank Wilson has been involved with many philanthropic organizations for over 25 years.

 

Vice Chair

Jeff Rayman:

Mr. Rayman is the President ,Chief Executive Officer,  and a co- founder of Secutor Capital Management Corp, an investment advisory firm. Prior to that, Mr. Rayman was the President of Studentawards Inc. from 2000 until 2002 and from 1989 to 2000, Mr. Rayman was the President of Alliance Atlantis Equicap Corp. Mr. Rayman has over 20 years experience in the financial services industry. As well, Mr. Rayman is actively involved in the world of philanthropy as both a fundraiser, and board member of several charitable organizations.

 

Treasurer

Leon Kieselstein:

Leon is married to Fran, and is a father of two sons, Mike age 31 and Matt 29. He graduated from the University of Toronto in 1969 and the University of Windsor Law School in 1972 and was called to the bar in 1974. He practiced law for over nine years and remains a member of the bar in the Province of Ontario.  He has worked in the financial services industry primarily in the private client wealth management area.  He am presently employed as a Vice President and Investment Advisor with T.D. Waterhouse. Leon became interested in the good works of Reena when his nephew became a client sometime ago.

Secretary

Irving Feldman:

Irving Feldman is the senior/founding partner of the SF Partnership, LLP Chartered Accountants. He is a member of both the Institute of Chartered Accounts of Ontario, and the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants.

He is also a director of KS International, an accounting association with over 100 affiliate offices worldwide. He chairs its special interest group, dealing with real estate and construction industries around the world. Irving is a board member and sits on the finance committee of CCCJ. He is a direct sponsor of the CCCJ’s Discovering Diversity School Program, through the SF Partnership’s Annual Charity Golf Tournament.

Irving is treasurer and member of the board of the Dennis Waldman Foundation for Jewish Education, and is also co-chair of The Professional Advisory Group of the Baycrest Foundation.


Immediate Past Chair

Murray Klein:
Murray is a partner at Miller Bernstein and Partners, LLP, Chartered Accountants. He has served on the Board of the Foundation since 1996. Murray also serves on the Investment Committee and the Finance Committee, which he has chaired over five years ago and he has also served as the Foundation Treasurer from 1999 to 2004. Murray and his wife Susan, support Reena in many ways - volunteering, their time, actively raising funds, and helping to broaden Reena's reach by encouraging friends and family to get involved.

Hon. Legal Counsel

Bert Raphael:
Bert is a Civil Litigation Specialist and has practiced law for 46 years. He has been Honourary Legal Counsel to the Reena Foundation for 25 years and is the proud father of Sheree a long-term Reena client. He and his wife Marilyn created the Bert and Marilyn Advocacy Fund which is available to assist developmentally disabled citizens to pursue legal remedies.

Directors

Tobie Bekhor:
Tobie has been a tireless worker for many good causes in this country and Israel . She has been involved with Hadassah Wizo, Mount Sinai Hospital Auxiliary, the Canadian Council of Christian and Jews, and the Baycrest Centre for Geriatric Care to name but a few. Three years ago, as part of a family commitment, she volunteered, toward making the Reena Magna Dinner an intrinsic part of the yearly Foundation fundraising events.
Larry Berdugo:
Larry is the President of Berdugo Financial Group Inc., and a V.P. Sales and Marketing with Independent Financial Concepts Group Inc.

Ricky Brooks:

Richard is the managing partner of Brooks Barristers & Solicitors, a boutique business law firm located in Toronto Canada which was founded in 1999 and which caters to entrepreneurial clients. Prior to founding, “Brooks, Barristers & Solicitors”, Richard worked with Baker & McKenzie, an international law firm, and prior to that, with Goodman & Carr.

Richard and his wife Johanna have both been active in a number of charities in Ontario including UJA, JNR, Baycrest and Reena.

 

Marshall Gottlieb:

Marshall brings a wealth of business and fundraising experience to the Board having served many different community organizations including JNF and the Starlight Foundation. Marshall and his wife Rosalie are long time supporters and ambassadors of Reena. Marshall most recently played a key fundraising role in the success of the 2008 Reena Gala.

Adam Henechowicz:

Adam is the director of Business Development at Stryco Products.  He has been involved with the Reena Foundation for over seven years in many different capacities.  Besides the Reena Foundation he is involved on a volunteer basis with Birthright Israel and the March of the Living, leading 3 trips over the last 5 years.  Adam graduated from the University of Western Ontario in 2001 with a degree in Health Sciences and is currently pursuing a Master degree.

Esther Michaels:

Esther is a successful businesswoman, investor and mother. She has been in the furniture business since 1969, and today she and her husband Albert own Arrow Furniture. Esther is a long time supporter of Reena. The Michaels donated a house to Reena in the early 1990’s and more recently dedicated the Michaels Wellness Centre at Reena. Esther is a child of Holocaust survivors and is the mother of three grown children and five grandchildren. Besides supporting Reena, Esther is also an active supporter of The Sheba Medical Centre in Israel.

Joe Mimran:

In the fashion business since 1977 – Joe and his brother Saul founded Alfred.

Founded Club Monaco in 1985 – grew to 140 stores internationally as well as Caban – both were sold to Polo Ralph Lauren in 2000.

Started a design development and brand consulting business in 2001 which design all the Presidents Choice Home products – in 2002 Joe and his wife created a luxury women’s apparel line called Pink Tartan which is sold across Canada and the US.

In March 2006 Joe created a line of apparel and accessories for Loblaws called Joe Fresh Style.

 Joe has been the Chairman of the not for profit Fashion Design Council of Canada since 2004.  Joe also sits on the board of Royal Laser a public steel company he helped found in 2004.

Joe has 3 daughters and 1 son.  His oldest daughter Kaylee is a recent resident in a Reena owned apartment.

Mike Nethercott:

Mike Nethercott is President of Infinia Canada, a North American marketing and branding agency.  He has more than twenty years of experience in marketing and sales in senior international roles with Fortune 500 companies while based in Brussels, New York and Toronto.  Mike is also a former navel officer and lives in Richmond Hill with is wife Sarah and two kids, Paige and Cole.

Honey Schipper:

Honey has her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Toronto. She taught pre-school at Hillcrest Progressive School. She is married and she and her husband Norm have three children. She is a Life member of Toronto Hadassah-Wizo, and a volunteer at the Volunteer Centre for Metropolitan Toronto.

Honey has served for the Baycrest Centre on the Terrace Advisory Board, Quality of Care Advisory Board, and was past chair on the Art Committee. As well as being on the National Ballet of Canada as an executive member of the Women’s Committee, she was the Chairman of Multicultural Sub-Committee for the Ontario Heritage Foundation, and was on the Conservation Review board of Ontario.

Mitchell Shnier:
Mitchell has business interests throughout Ontario in the fast food industry and he looks forward to engaging some of Reena's clients at his Dairy Queen and Orange Julius locations. He's been a supporter of Reena for many years, as well as of the Variety Club of Ontario and the Simon Wiesenthal Centre.

Arnold Unger:

Cofounder and CEO of Renee’s Gourmet Foods, the #2 Salad dressing company in Canada behind Kraft.  Sold to every major supermarket in Canada and major ones in the USA and manufacturing and sold many dressings and sauces to such accounts as KFC, Mr. Sub, The Keg and East Side Mario’s to name a few. 

Sold the company to H.J Heinz 2 years ago.  Arnie is not retired as he has many business interests that he is still involved in.

Renee’s was voted one of Canada’s 50 Best Managed Companies for the last 5 years.

Also voted Entrepreneur of the Year by Ernst & Young and National Post.

Arnie is involved with a number of charities such as: Easter Seals, Sick Kids, The Starlite Foundation and Mount Sinai.  Arnie and his siblings have been involved with and supportive of Reena for many years and maintains the Helen Unger Fund at Reena in memory of his sister. 

Helen Vale:

Helen has served for many years on the Reena Board, and for the past two years as Chair of the Board.  She will step down as Chair at the September 10 AGM of Reena.  Helen has also served on the Board of the Women’s Auxiliary at Baycrest and we are very proud to note that Helen is the UJA Federation’s 2008 winner of the Shem Tov award for exceptional community leadership.

Richard Wachsberg:

Richard Wachsberg is the Chairman of Apollo Health and Beauty Care, Canada's leading manufacturer and distributor of personal care products.   Mr. Wachsberg actively pursues several charitable enterprises and has supported the efforts of Reena annually since the early 1990's.   Mr. Wachsberg resides in Toronto with his wife, Nathalie and their 3 children.

Lorne Weiss:
Lorne is an Investment Advisor with CIBC Wood Gundy. Since first volunteering to help Reena Foundation with fundraising Lorne has chaired two successful "Day at the Races" events, joined the Investment Committee and has been an unending source of great ideas and contacts.

Steven Weisz:

Steven graduated the University of Western Ontario with an Economics Degree in 2000.

Steven is a partner at Paradise Homes Corp.   His ongoing responsibilities include assisting with land acquisitions and development; overseeing customer service; human resource liaison for the site construction staff; and overall market analysis.  Paradise Homes Corp. was established in 1972, and has built over 6,000 homes in Greater Toronto and surrounding communities. 

Steven heads up the New Leadership Division for The Reena Foundation.

President

Gary E. Sim:
Gary holds a business degree from the University of Western Ontario and is a Certified Fund Raising Executive. He joins the Reena Foundation with more than 20 years of experience in the strategic and detailed components of conduction major campaigns, and managing the cultivation and stewardship required for annual giving and planned giving programs.
